In Richland County, these issues are especially important when looking at chronic disease, diabetes, obesity, and life expectancy. Live Healthy Richland County uses local data to help inform action, strengthen partnerships, and connect residents with resources that support healthier lives.

Live Healthy Richland County supports community gardens as a way to increase access to fresh food, encourage healthier eating habits, and create shared spaces for education, connection, and wellness.
Through partnerships with schools, colleges, faith-based organizations, and community groups, these gardens help residents and students learn more about nutrition, food systems, gardening, and the importance of making healthy choices part of everyday life.
Community gardens also serve as hands-on learning spaces where people can grow, gather, and build stronger connections to their health and their community.

Through our partnership with Kids in Parks TRACK Trails, we also help encourage children and families to get outside, move more, and explore local outdoor spaces. Together, these initiatives support a healthier Richland County by making wellness more visible, accessible, and engaging for the community.
